Learn the Magic of Sourdough at High Tide Coffee in Laguna Niguel
Share
Some events feel rushed. Others feel forgettable. And then there are the ones that slow time just enough to remind you why gathering in person still matters. That’s the spirit behind our upcoming Sourdough Workshop at High Tide Coffee, an evening designed to blend learning, conversation, and really good coffee into something that feels easy and memorable.
On January 27th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, we’re welcoming the community into our Laguna Niguel café for an original, hands-on sourdough class. This workshop is built for curious beginners, casual home bakers, and anyone who’s ever thought, I’d love to try sourdough… someday. That someday can be this January.
Event registration is now open, and seats are intentionally limited to keep the experience relaxed and personal.
Why We’re Hosting This Workshop Here
Coffee shops have always been more than a stop along the day. They’re meeting places. They’re where conversations unfold naturally and ideas stretch out without pressure. Hosting workshops like this fits right into that tradition.
Sourdough and coffee actually have a lot in common. Both rely on patience. Both reward attention. And both are better when shared. A sourdough workshop inside a coffee shop just makes sense, it’s tactile, social, and grounded in the same values we care about every day: quality, community, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Laguna Niguel has a calm, steady energy, especially in the evenings. The pace eases up, the air cools, and it becomes the perfect backdrop for learning something new without feeling rushed. That’s exactly the kind of night we’re creating.
Sourdough Doesn’t Have to Feel Intimidating
Let’s be honest. Sourdough has a reputation. Starters sound fragile. Fermentation timing feels technical. Shaping dough can look like a skill you’re either born with or not.
Here’s the thing, it doesn’t have to be complicated.
This workshop is intentionally designed to make sourdough approachable. We focus on the fundamentals that actually matter when you’re baking at home. No jargon for the sake of it. No pressure to be perfect. Just clear explanations, hands-on guidance, and space to ask questions as they come up.
You’ll learn how sourdough works in real life, not just in theory. Why your starter behaves the way it does. What signs to look for when dough is ready. How to work with fermentation instead of fighting it. By the end of the evening, the process feels less mysterious and far more doable.
What You’ll Learn (and Take Home)
This is a fully hands-on workshop. Everyone participates, mixes, shapes, and practices throughout the class. Watching from the sidelines isn’t really a thing here.
Each participant will leave with:
- A sourdough starter to continue baking at home
- A hands-on tutorial covering mixing, shaping, and baking basics
- Prepared dough, ready to bake in your own kitchen
- Practical tips you can actually remember and reuse
It’s not about mastering everything in one night. It’s about walking away confident enough to bake again on your own, and enjoy the process while you do.
To keep things simple, attendees should bring:
- One empty mixing bowl
- 3.5 cups of flour (King Arthur bread flour is preferred)
Everything else is provided.
A Relaxed Evening That Fits Real Life
This workshop runs from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, which makes it easy to fit into a weekday evening. Come straight from work. Meet a friend. Or treat it as a solo reset after a long day.
Throughout the class, our full beverage menu will be available. Coffee, espresso drinks, and other favorites will be flowing, crafted with the same care we bring to every cup. If your schedule is tight, order ahead online so your drink is ready when you arrive. Skipping the line makes settling in that much smoother.
There’s no rush here. The pace is intentional. Questions are welcome. Conversations happen naturally. It’s the kind of evening that feels productive without feeling busy.

Why Event Registration Matters Early
Registering early doesn’t just secure your seat, it helps everything run smoothly. It allows us to prepare materials, plan the flow of the class, and make sure everyone gets the attention they need.
Workshops like this tend to fill quickly, especially when they’re local, hands-on, and intentionally small. Once seats are filled, registration closes. Keeping things capped is what makes the experience feel relaxed instead of crowded.
If this sounds like your kind of evening, it’s worth locking it in sooner rather than later.
Coffee Shops as Community Spaces
There’s a reason people keep coming back to neighborhood coffee shops. They offer something screens can’t, real connection, shared experiences, and a sense of belonging.
Workshops like this turn familiar spaces into something new, even if just for an evening. They create moments where learning feels social and time feels well spent. That’s something we value deeply, and it’s why we continue to host events that bring people together in meaningful ways.
Laguna Niguel is full of people who care about quality, creativity, and community. This workshop is one small way to celebrate that.
Make the Evening Easy
A little planning goes a long way. Register early. Bring your bowl and flour. And if you want to arrive calm and ready, order ahead online so your coffee’s waiting for you when you walk in.
Grab a seat. Say hello. Ease into the night.
